Traditional Eastern Medicine has used turmeric for migraines, tumors, and inflammation. Science has discovered that the health benefits of turmeric stem from a polyphenolic compound called curcumin which gives it its bold yellow hue. We don't usually think of cacao as an herb since we often find it in chocolates and other sweet treats, yet it has been used in cooking for hundreds of years.
