COVID-19 Impact & Wellness Tips

Friends,

What a difference a few days, weeks, or months can make. No matter where you are in the world, the development of COVID-19 has undoubtedly impacted you, your friends, and family’s’ mindset, daily lives, as well as how you are spending your time and focusing your priorities. This time can also bring a lot of confusion, we want you to know we are here for you if you need support during this period, you can call (973) 970-9063 to speak with one of our Registered Dietitians to discuss the benefits of healthy eating at home and guide you through the experience.

During this period of risk and uncertainty, one thing is certain: your wellness is important. Here are some practical tips for you to consider providing:

  1. FEED YOUR HEALTH: Eat a diet rich in fruits and vegetables: indeed, fruits and vegetables contain many critical vitamins and enrich your gut microbiome which is important for your immune function. The American Dietetic Association recommends for immune balance at least 5 to 7 servings of fruits and vegetables per day, read the article here. This past October, L-Nutra partnered to co-found and launch ‘Nutrition for Longevity®’ or N4L where we source seeds and grains from Longevity zones, cultivate them under strict controls at our New Jersey farm, and ship them to you fresh in just 48 hours post-harvest. N4L meals are based on The Longevity Diet book, by Prof. Valter Longo, and contain 10 daily servings of fruits and vegetables. They are gluten-free with no artificial fertilization, no chemical pesticides, fungicides, or herbicides. You are what you eat, so fuel your body with the best possible produce from nature. 2. NOURISH YOUR BODY: Stay focused on your health goals and mindful to manage your weight: it can be easy to manage anxiety with food during times of distress. Having excessive weight interrupts the normal functioning of the immune system. (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/22414338). During this Coronavirus pandemic, stress and staying home may further exacerbate your ability to focus on your healthy weight goals. A processed-Western diet, which many are stocking up in their cupboards and refrigerators, is another issue for immune function (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/31747581).

The ‘Fasting Mimicking Diet®’, the ‘Fast Bar®’ and ‘Nutrition for Longevity®’ could support your healthy weight goals. At L-Nutra®, we have dedicated our professional lives and the company mission to wellness and healthy aging, and we are here to help. We have increased our product supply and secured fast delivery so that you get your food on-time, at-home, without waiting with others in long grocery lines. Food delivery businesses are currently in high demand as they are considered relatively safe from viral transmission. We take safety to the next level by ensuring that our staff adheres to stringent cleanliness and hygiene measures and L-Nutra complies or exceeds with regulations governing the processing, holding or distribution of food. We go beyond the fundamentals of good manufacturing practices and take the safety of our consumers seriously.

  3. PRIORITIZE SLEEP: Getting adequate sleep is also important for wellness and immunity. The Sleep Foundation explains the link between chronic sleep loss with the immune response, read the article here.

  4. PRACTICE WELLNESS: Stay hydrated and stretch: drinking water and keeping your body hydrated is important every day, and even more so during times of stress. Practice drinking water every hour, set a reminder on your phone, and use the time to walk around and stretch or move your body. If possible, step outside your door and get some fresh air and sunlight on your face.

  5. MOVE YOUR BODY: Exercise, even at home: especially for general good health, blood circulation and maintaining healthy weight. There are many wonderful at-home workouts available on the internet. We also love the practice of meditation which can provide tremendous benefit and relief. Try these AM or PM meditations for a quick break. You can also check out our 30-Day Kickstarter program which gives you access to daily work-outs, our nutritious N4L meals, and guidance from doctors, fitness coaches, and Registered Dietitians, all remotely from the safety of your own home. 6. CULTIVATE HAPPINESS: Do things you love and spend time with people you love: life constantly keeps us on our toes and when we are so busy, often all of the things that we really want to do with our time never happen. Use this time as a reset and pick up that hobby or dust off that guitar—or finally start that book you have been wanting to write or read. Also spend time with people you love, as love and happiness are key to wellness.
