Air Fryer Tofu

Air Fryers are incredibly popular right now, due to their ease of use and variety of uses. The high temperatures that can be reached in the basket allow for quick cooking times and the development of a nice crunch on anything you place inside. 
One of our favorite ways to utilize the air fryer is to recreate popular restaurant items. So keep reading to get the recipe for this crispy Air Fryer Tofu which will stop you from ever going back to Chinese takeout!

Ingredients

Air Fryer Tofu:

  • 1lb Block of Tofu, extra firm, cut into cubes
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons Tamari, low sodium
  • 2 teaspoons Sesame Oil
  • ½ cup Rice or Potato Flour

Dipping Sauce:

  • 2 tablespoons Tamari
  • 3 tablespoons Rice Wine Vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon Asian chili sauce (like Sriracha)
  • 2 teaspoons Sesame Oil
  • 1 tablespoon Maple Syrup (or sweetener of choice)
  • 2 tablespoons Sesame Seeds
  • 2 tablespoons Scallions, thinly sliced

Instructions

For the Tofu:

  1. Toss tofu cubes, onion powder, garlic powder, paprika, cinnamon, tamari, and sesame oil in a large bowl. Toss well, cover, and transfer to the fridge to marinate for 20 minutes to an hour.
  2. Preheat the air fryer to 400ºF. 
  3. Working in batches, toss the tofu in the rice flour until thoroughly coated. Shake off any excess flour and add tofu in a single layer to the air fryer basket
  4. Air fry the tofu for 15 minutes, tossing halfway through until it is golden and crispy.

For the Sauce:

  1. While the tofu is cooking, whisk together the sauce ingredients
  2. Serve at room temperature with the freshly fried tofu
